I have a coffee addiction.
I've said it.
Well...it's a coffee and hot tea addiction.
It's kinda like having a split personality.
I love coffee, lattes, and yes, iced coffee.
I get up every morning, feed the kitties, and make myself a cup of coffee.
Sometimes, I make a cup to take with me to work, but other times I stop at ta little coffee shack that recently opened on my route to work. Pumpkin Spice flavored coffee/lattes are my favorite this time of year. Starbucks (which I love) is on the other side of town--too crowded and too far away to make it to work on time unless I get up and leave extra early.
Five o'clock on weekdays is early enough.
The little drive-thru coffee shack has their version of a pumpkin pie latte, and it's good. Unfortunately, I tend to indulge a little too often, but in my defense, more often than not that is my breakfast.
I know! I know!
Coffee, no matter how good it is, should not be a substitute for breakfast.
Cost is another factor. at about $5.00 for a large--and yes, I can suck it down in minutes--it gets expensive. And I haven't even said anything about the extra calories and sugar. That's for a whole other story.
I went on-line and ordered some pumpkin pie and pumpkin spice flavorings from Torani. Most grocery stores here carry a couple of flavors--vanilla, caramel, and hazelnut--but they are small bottles. I've used all three of the flavors.
My package was waiting for me when I got home yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised. The syrups were not the small bottles I'm used to getting in the grocery store. They were the large glass bottles you see at coffee shops.
I'm the only one at home who drinks the stuff, so I've got it all to myself. It's all MINE!!
(Insert evil laugh!)
I can make my pumpkin spice lattes and coffees at home, and control the amount of sugar in my drinks.
Between the prices and the variety they have, I have ideas for Christmas gifts for some of the coffee addicts I know.

The cold water
shocked both men causing them to stop hitting each other.
“Look at the mess you
have made!” Courtney slammed the metal pitcher down on the counter top.
Both men stared at
“Don’t you even think
for one minute that I’m cleaning this mess! You made it with your ridiculous
fight.” Courtney put her hands on her hips. “What do you have to say for

Todd looked at his
cousin, then back at Courtney. She was furious. She looked beautiful. Todd
started laughing. Instead of running away scared, his mate had taken it upon
herself to stop the fight between him and Scott, but she had done it in a way
that did not bring her near the danger of the two men fighting. Her bravery
pleased his bear, but it terrified the man. She needed to know her limitations
so she stayed safe.
“Are you laughing at
me?” Courtney’s cheeks turned pink, but her eyes flashed with anger. “Let’s see
how you are laughing when you two are cleaning this place, replacing the glass
in the display case, and baking more pies to replace the ones you ruined.”
“He started it.”
Scott pointed at Todd.
“He may have started
it, but you could have taken it outside.” Courtney plopped her hands on her
hips. “But did you do that? No! You started the fight in the middle of my
bakery. You destroyed the glass case and half my morning’s work. I hope you two
are proud of yourselves, especially you.” Courtney pointed her finger at Todd.
“You should be ashamed of yourself. You are a police officer. You’re supposed
to keep the peace. You shouldn’t be starting fights or destroying property.”
The weather is slowly changing here in Texas. We have finally had some cold fronts come through. We didn't get the cold or even the snow the northern states got, but we finally got some rain and a few days of cooler temperatures. The temperatures are starting to come down out of the upper 90s.
I am so ready for colder weather. Winter is my favorite time of year--the cold, the boots, sweaters, and the best part...
We are moving into the holidays--Halloween. Thanksgiving. Christmas.
As soon as school started, the stores moved out the school supply stuff and moved in the Halloween candy and costumes. Some of the stores have even started displaying Christmas stuff. It's crazy how fast and early the stores set up for the commercial aspect of the holidays.
Magic is in the air.
I love the magic of the season and yes, there is magic in the air.
So step back.
Turn your face up to the cooling sun.
Take a deep breath
Feel the changes in the air.
Don't you hate it, when you know you have something, but you can't find it? I was going through that yesterday. I looked everywhere, but I couldn't find it. Then a couple hours later, I looked in one of the places I had already looked, and there it was!
I can look back now and laugh, but yesterday, I was not in a laughing mood. I was going to find it, because I just had to have that steno pad so I could start writing.
Yes, I said "steno pad."
Nothing else would work. I had to have it because I really, really needed it!
And what was I writing?
My goals for October.
I know. It sounds kind of silly. I spent all that time looking for a steno pad, but I found it, and I wrote down my October goals.
I'm working on four different outlines right now. Yes, four different outlines being written on at the same time. My goal is to have two of them complete by the end of next week, and start writing those stories.
One of the outlines is for the first book in the Briary Creek Wolves which is a spin-off of the Bryant Station Curves series. The Briary Creek Wolf pack is made up of the extended Wolfe family and a couple more families.
I am also working on the outlines for Bryant Station Curves, book 5 and 6.
I have to stop stressing about my day job. It is effecting my writing, my family life, and my health which is not good. Then there's the fact I'm bringing home stuff to work on because I don't have enough time during the day. I was given extra projects to work on. I guess the powers that be figured if I have time to write, then I have time to do more projects for the day job. It's just not a good situation, but I'm working on some solutions.
I need to take time for DH and me to go do fun things. I'm taking a couple of days from work (they weren't too happy) and we are going to the coast to do some fishing. I'm excited.
DH and I are trying to manage our time and resources so that we can do something each month or two. We need the time together, and we know our time may be limited. With his heart, anything can happen at any time. It's a scary thought.
When the child was little, I decorated for the holidays. But then he grew up and somehow I stopped decorating. I want to start doing it again. It was a lot of fun, and I actually miss doing it.
